Golf Club Karlovy VaryThe GOLF CLUB Karlovy Vary was founded in 1904 by the "Gentlemen’s Fencing Club", in order to expand the offering of sport activities for spa guests. Originally a 9-hole course was situated next to the present-day Gejzirpark (Geyser Park), in Karlovy Vary. Due to the increasing popularity of the sport, in 1928 they began seriously considering constructing a new 18-hole golf course in the locality of Olsova Vrata. The construction plans were entrusted to the most outstanding expert of that time, the Parisian architect C. Noskowski. Unfortunately the whole project (1933) was not finished due to an economy downturn and the following war events. After the change in the Czech political environment in 1948, there was a small group of golfers – composed mostly of the earlier members – that preserved the slowly deteriorating course. On April 3rd, 1949, the club finally saw its rebirth. Since 1951, it has been a tradition to hold the so-called ‘New Year’s Drive’, which takes place every January 1st, starting at 1:00 p.m. The year 2004 was a very special time for us – our club celebrated 100 years of golf history in the Czech Republic. Presently, the biggest golf club in the Czech Republic has more than 780 members, including 110 children and juniors.
Golf Resort Karlovy Vary Inc. The golf course was built in 1966 by a group of prominent companies from Karlovy Vary in order to engage in sport activities, especially golf. There was a partnership between the city and private investors. In 2004 Golf Resort Karlovy Vary Inc. becomes the owner and administrator. After the golf course was reconstructed, a new clubhouse and parking facility was built up. Following this we reconstructed the irrigation system, tees, drainages, and added a new maintenance facility. Thanks to this, golf course in Karlovy Vary became one of the most prestigious courses in Europe. The current golf course has PAR 72 and the length is 6.167 m. Along with a golf game we offer superior services including a golf shop, a driving range, golf lessons by professional teachers, complete golf equipment and electric or a motor carts rental. Here, you may also find a restaurant, a bar, a VIP salon and a relaxation club Aquila Wellness Club that offers a hot steam room, whirlpool and massages. There is a beautiful view of the 18th hole from the club terrace. Gastronomical service is provided by Grandhotel Pupp Karlovy Vary Inc., which also offers accommodation in a five-star hotel with a 300-year history. A curiosity of our golf course is the presence of the endangered species Pouched Marmot. The local „Marmot golf colony“ is the most westerly grouping of the species in Europe.
Caverna Agency Inc. The exclusive marketing partner of the golf resort is Caverna Agency Inc. Its activities are especially focused on organizing sport and cultural events. The golf resort hosts approximately 30 commercial tournaments during each season. A few examples are the European Championship MID Amateurs (1997), European Championship Ladies (1999) or the annual tournament running during the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. |
